Business Development Director – Publishing Technology

As a leading publishing technology provider, our client leads the way in ePublishing. Working throughout education and other sectors they utilise the very latest in digital technology and hosting platforms to deliver discoverability and dissemination, insight and research and total management of published materials. They now have an exciting and rare opening for a Business Development Director to be based in London or Brighton.

As a Business Development Director, you will:

  • Conduct sales activities in pursuit of new business, developing a sales pipeline through engaging with new prospects
  • Generate and present proposals, closing accounts of varying value
  • Target a variety of markets including society publishers, commercial publishers, and university presses
  • Create proposals in response to RFPs
  • Attend weekly sales team meetings via phone and/or webex
  • Conduct business meetings with prospects either in person or on the phone.
  • Retain a current and thorough understanding of the scholarly publishing
  • Build and manage a sales team
  • Stay apprised of market developments through publishing news channels and networking

The ideal candidate will:

  • Possess 5+ years proven sales experience gained in digital publishing, CRM sales or eLearning
  • Have experience winning and closing large deals within major publishers
  • Demonstrate an entrepreneurial, mature and professional approach to sales
  • Be a natural leader who thrives in a team based environment
  • Possess a genuine passion to travel (UK and international)
  • Be a tenacious business developer who is inventive in approach, pro-active and collaborative and able to develop a compelling sales proposition

The successful candidate can expect a generous 70k base salary with an uncapped first year OTE of 100k plus an excellent benefits package.
