As a leading publisher, our client is renowned world-wide for publishing a series of e-journals specialising in 16 different pharmaceutical/medical/therapeutic areas. They currently reach over half a million subscribers globally. Through the use of product reviews, symposium reviews, e-newsletters and adverts, they help companies market products and services to an ever-growing global audience of relevant healthcare and pharmaceutical professionals. 6 years on from the release of their first publication, they continue to grow and are currently looking to hire an Assistant Editor

As an Assistant Editor, you will:

  • Monitoring journal standards and implement quality-control procedures
  • Proofread / carry out quality control of all content
  • Identify areas for improvement, establishing a training schedule and training team accordingly
  • Continually develop and ensure everyone uses procedures and specifications
  • Work with the Assistant Editor in managing the Editorial team
  • Create and implement a content strategy for the wider brand with the Head of Publishing, and consider a paid-content plan
  • Start thinking about additional journals for launch (Europe and USA)
  • Be part of the company’s senior management committee and regularly share your department’s successes, challenges and opportunities

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and traits:

  • Medical science related degree (Masters, PHD preferable but not essential)
  • 4+ years’ experience in medical / healthcare publishing
  • Leadership skills
  • Extremely motivated and dedicated with meticulous attention to detail
  • A problem solver
  • Excellent English language and communication skills both written and verbal
  • Have a growth mindset
  • Possess a digital publishing background, including experience using Editorial Manager for workflow
  • Demonstrate experience in creating and executing new content strategies and initiatives

The successful candidate can expect a negotiable base salary of 35-40k plus additional benefits.
