As a Security Advisor, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding our IT systems and services. This role operates in a dynamic environment, collaborating with colleagues to ensure information, assets, and people are protected in line with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and Information Security Manual (ISM).
Security Advisor Responsibilities:  
  • Support the development and execution of IT security strategies
  • Manage the migration of services to the cloud
  • Monitor and manage cyber risks to maintain secure systems and services
  • Foster and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
  • Provide strategic leadership and advice on cyber security
  • Conduct thorough security and quality assurance reviews of security documentation, projects, and external service provider outputs
  • Analyze statistical data to enhance confidence in security and privacy
  • Develop, maintain, and review security requirements, design and testing documents, technical specifications, and other relevant materials
  • Compile system security reports by analyzing data and trends, identifying issues, and implementing enhancements
  • Understand the broader threat landscape and manage changes to strengthen the cyber security posture while ensuring compliance
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer and mentor staff as needed
Security Advisor Skills and Experience:  
  • Must be an Australian citizen
  • Eligibility to obtain a baseline security clearance
  • Extensive experience in developing and executing IT security strategies
  • Proven track record in managing cyber risks and delivering secure IT systems and services
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Expertise in providing strategic advice on cyber security to diverse stakeholders
  • Experience conducting security and quality assurance reviews of documentation and deliverables
  • Ability to analyze statistical data to enhance IT system security and privacy
  • Proficient in developing, maintaining, and reviewing security documentation and technical specifications
  • Skilled in preparing system security reports, analyzing data trends, and implementing enhancements
  • Awareness of the broader threat environment
