Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Capability Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a national engineering team of approximately 5–10 staff
- Drive consistent engineering standards, delivery processes, and workload allocation
- Conduct performance reviews and build capability redundancy across the team
- Create a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing engineering culture
Engineering Governance & Delivery
- Establish technical governance, documentation standards, and peer review processes
- Improve engineering consistency across projects and customer engagements
- Ensure strong delivery discipline across competing national priorities
Commercial & Operational Management
- Own engineering utilisation, budgeting, and departmental performance metrics
- Contribute to the development of managed services and SaaS-style offerings
- Support strategic planning and operational scalability across the business
Stakeholder & Customer Engagement
- Partner with sales teams, technical specialists, and leadership on complex customer opportunities
- Occasionally engage directly with enterprise customers and technology partners
- Support proposal development, solution alignment, and strategic customer outcomes
Safety & Compliance
- Promote strong safety and compliance standards across the engineering function
- Ensure alignment with Australian Standards and relevant industry regulations
Job Requirements (What we are looking for)
- We are targeting candidates from an IT project management or engineering management background. You do not need to come from a traditional security or electrical trade background — the technical depth sits within the team. What we need is the leadership and governance capability above it.
- Proven experience leading and developing technical teams, with a track record of building high-performing functions.
- Background in IT project management, engineering management, or a related discipline.
- Strong commercial acumen including budget management, utilisation tracking, and an understanding of managed services or SaaS revenue models.
- Experience in supporting a sales function, by providing specialist sales engineering capability. The department does not have a dedicated salesperson, so this role works alongside existing sales representatives and Technical Managers on opportunities that require engineering depth.
- Ability to hold technical credibility with experienced engineers without needing to be the most technical person in the room.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work across state teams, customers, and technology partners.
- Familiarity with electronic security, IT infrastructure, or integrated systems environments is an advantage but not essential.
- Experience using project or field service management platforms (e.g. SimPRO) is highly regarded.

- Growing organisation investing in operational maturity, technology capability, and long-term scalability

- Permanent full-time position
- Long-term career opportunity within a growing national business
- High-impact leadership role with direct influence on engineering strategy and operational maturity
- Supportive executive leadership team and collaborative culture
- Immediate start available for the right candidate
- Onsite parking provided
- Opportunity to shape and mature a national engineering function
