Key Responsibilities
- Design and build robust embedded firmware for next-gen, low-power IoT devices used in freight and transportation environments
- Develop energy-optimized solutions to support long-term deployment of battery-powered hardware
- Integrate and fine-tune wireless protocols such as LoRa, BLE, and CAT-M1/NB-IoT for reliable data transmission
- Create advanced filtering and signal processing techniques to maintain data integrity under industrial conditions
- Define firmware architecture and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across hardware, software, and product
- Implement best practices for testing, debugging, documentation, and over-the-air updates
- Evaluate new technologies to inform and evolve the embedded systems strategy
- Troubleshoot system-wide issues, optimizing across both firmware and hardware interfaces
- 10+ years of embedded systems experience, with a strong background in low-power, sensor-based devices
- Deep expertise in C/C++, ARM Cortex-M processors, and both RTOS and bare-metal environments
- Demonstrated success deploying firmware for connected devices in real-world applications
- Hands-on experience with LoRa, Bluetooth Low Energy, and cellular networks (especially CAT-M1/NB-IoT)
- Proficiency in OTA firmware deployment and familiarity with Zephyr RTOS and nrfConnect SDK
- Strong RF knowledge, including antenna design/tuning and custom mesh protocol development
- Experience with vibration analysis and filtering in noisy environments (ideal for predictive maintenance use cases)
- Excellent problem-solving skills, resourceful mindset, and ability to own complex projects from start to finish
- Comfortable working independently or stepping into a leadership role as the team grows
- A $230,000–$250,000 compensation package, reflecting the high level of impact and ownership
- Influence over the technical direction of mission-critical products
