Robotics Perception Engineer
Hybrid – Vancouver, BC
$250,000 – $270,000 + Equity + Benefits

Our client is on the lookout for a Robotics Perception Engineer to join an ambitious team pushing the boundaries of humanoid and bipedal robotics.
In this high-impact role, you’ll play a central part in building the perception and navigation systems that enable intelligent movement through complex, ever-changing environments. This is an opportunity to apply your expertise to real-world challenges—where advanced vision systems meet full-body control.

The Role:

As a Robotics Perception Engineer, you’ll be a key contributor to the design and deployment of intelligent perception systems for advanced robotic platforms. Your focus will be on enabling real-time 3D understanding, localization, and navigation in dynamic, real-world environments.
You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate perception into control and motion systems—bringing autonomous, full-body robotic behaviors to life.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Developing vision algorithms for object detection, depth estimation, scene segmentation, and 3D tracking.
  • Fusing sensor data (camera, LiDAR, IMU, etc.) to achieve accurate real-time localization.
  • Building scalable systems for data collection, training, testing, and performance tuning.
  • Designing robust navigation and motion planning stacks.
  • Ensuring efficient deployment of models on embedded platforms.
  • Collaborating with AI, controls, and hardware teams to align perception with system-wide autonomy.
Core qualifications:
  • MSc or PhD in Robotics, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or related disciplines.
  • Strong programming skills in C++ and Python.
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Solid theoretical foundation in geometry, probability, and optimization.
  • 3D scene understanding
  • Depth estimation/stereo vision
  • Object detection and tracking
  • Visual-inertial SLAM or LiDAR mapping
  • Navigation and planning for autonomous systems
  • Experience working with humanoid or legged robots (advantageous).
  • Familiarity with ROS 2, CUDA, TensorRT, ONNX, or model optimization techniques.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or relevant academic publications.
Rewards
  • Compensation: $250,000 – $270,000 salary + stock options
  • Flexibility: Hybrid working model based in Vancouver
  • Benefits: Extended healthcare, paid time off, and employee equity
  • Tech: Access to production-ready humanoid robotics platforms
  • Impact: Be part of a visionary team shaping the future of autonomous mobility
  • Growth: Opportunities for specialization, leadership, and innovation
