We’re working with a Melbourne-based organisation that needs a seasoned Data Architect to come in, assess quickly, and deliver. This isn’t theory or documentation-heavy — they need someone who’s built and operated modern data architectures, particularly in multi-master / multi-write environments.
If you’ve worked across distributed systems where consistency, replication, and performance actually matter, this will be right up your street.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll take ownership of the current data landscape and shape what comes next.
Designing and refining scalable, resilient data architectures across cloud or hybrid environments. Leading on multi-master (multi-write) design — not just how it should work, but how it actually runs in production. Defining data models, governance, and integration strategies that hold up under pressure.
You’ll be working closely with engineering, product, and business teams to make sure the architecture aligns with real-world use, not just ideal-state diagrams.
There’s also a strong optimisation piece — reviewing what’s there today, identifying gaps, and tightening performance, availability, and data integrity across the board.

- Experience across modern data platforms (data lakes, warehouses, streaming environments).
- Comfortable moving quickly, making decisions, and delivering within a short engagement.
- Cloud exposure (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience with real-time/event-driven architectures.
- Background in large-scale or regulated environments.
- Hybrid role based in Melbourne.
- Immediate start or short notice strongly preferred.
- Initial 4-week contract with a high likelihood of extension.
